AUTHOR: KAROL HORVÁTH
I was thirteen when I first got hold of a camera. Since then, photography has become my greatest passion. I learned mostly by catching on camera the lives of the Roma from the Budulovská settlement in my hometown of Moldava nad Bodvou. My first attempts were traditional cliché – rubbish, street dogs, Roma smoking in front of their dwellings. I gradually started to learn the art of photography myself, searching the Internet for advice how to take good photographs and how to avoid beginner mistakes. I also followed world trends in humanistic photography. After six years, I received my first digital camera; it was a dream come true – one of the best days of my life. I enjoy most taking portraits of children and old people because it is through them that human emotions are best projected. |
